I listened to your radio show for the first time when you did the rapport episode. I really enjoyed it and I thought I would give you some feedback.
I learned how to do hypnosis when I was in college and it has always been a "hobby" of mine. I feel like that I am somewhat of an anomoly when it comes to being hypnotized in that I usually do not feel like I go very deeply into trance, because I am too busy analyzing myself and the induction...but on a few occasions I have gone really deep into full on "what happened, how long was I under" somnabulstic trance.
The radio session was definitely one of the later. I remember you talking about the "velvety darkness" behind my eyelids, then your voice just sort of became a warm, pleasant hum in my mind as I drifted. I have a memory of talking to some people, and an awareness that you were getting me to practice rapport with them, but I don''t really recall many details and that is unusual for me. I also got results as I found myself using the mirroring skills this week and getting a great response. I have always read about that technique in the NLP books, but it seems so forced that I could never do it. This week there was a flow and it felt natural.
I tend to be pretty bad at visualizing in most of the traditional inductions. I thought it was really effective that you told me to visualize "velvety darkness" instead of a beach or floating down a stream like most inductions. Same goes for visualizing a conversation with people. I do that every day so it felt natural to visualize. Using more common things to visualize instead of abstracts really helped me. I also have a hard time with those progressive relaxation inductions. I get too focussed on trying to "make" my body feel a certain way. When you hypnotized me it felt like my body was gone. I was just daydreaming those conversations while that warm buzz of your voice slipped whatever suggestions you gave me into my subconscious mind. I also felt like I had some sense of fractionalization with the first session then the follow up. I just know that in the second session as soon as you suggested that my eyes would feel heavy that my eyelids were just begging to close. Very cool and extremely helpful experience. You have a new fan. Of course, since I can''t remember what you actually suggested during the session, maybe I don''t have a choice...
